My first keepsake ornament transformation...'Laura'

My challenge was to take an old tired summer dress that was loved but too small and turn it into something that could be admired for years to come whilst incorporating the memories of the dress in it's day.  So...
Take one 'much-loved but past it's best' little dress...

Un-pick the stitches and do a bit of thinking...

Take a day of holiday from work so I can get my teeth into the design and....

...may I introduce the new and completely adorable 'Laura' keepsake ornament!

Laura is my biggest ornament yet at 100mm across and I think as a keepsake this is the best size. She is more substantial and as the addition of beads makes her slightly higher in price, it helps that she is also bigger.  I would love your thoughts...and would dearly love to help turn some of your long forgotten sentimental items into something you can hang up and admire every day.

Ta ta for now. xx

  1. this is gorgeous and very clever. It is great how you can still see the fabric of the original dress x
